Studying for the SAT and prepping for upcoming AP tests can be overwhelming. With some planning and thoughtful strategies, you can handle both—and find benefit in the process! Here are 4 tips to help you make your study time as valuable as possible.
1. Schedule Like a Pro ⏰
Create a calendar to keep track of important dates for the SAT and AP exams and what content needs to be studied before test day. Next, break your study sessions into bite-sized chunks. When you feel like you’ve made the most out of one subject, try alternating between the subjects to keep yourself focused and productive.
2. Spot the Overlapping Skills 🔍
A benefit of studying for APs and SATs at the same time is that there is likely overlap in the content. Be cognizant of these overlaps during your study sessions! For example, while practicing SAT/ACT reading comprehension, consider how it might help you write for your AP Lang test.
3. Practice Like It’s Game Day 📝
When applicable, time yourself. Doing so will help you to complete questions under pressure and learn how to pace yourself, an important skill for test day.
4. Don’t Forget to Take Care of You! 💪
You’ll need to recover properly to stay healthy and focused. Prioritize sleep, eat healthy snacks, and drink lots of water. Take movement breaks when you need them and take short breaks to do the things you enjoy, like spending time with friends and family!
