Almost anyone who has followed the news the past couple of weeks has heard about ChatGPT, the AI bot that can write essays, solve ACT questions, write computer code, and even tell jokes. Our industry quickly realized that a student could write almost any essay – for school or college – using ChatGPT. Every student I asked had heard about it, and many are already using it to write essays, edit essays, and study for finals. Rarely is there such a seismic moment in academics, but this is one of them. Essays written outside of class are facing an existential crisis.
One of my close colleagues, Davbid Blobaum of Summit Prep, wrote an excellent piece on this development. I hope you enjoy it and find it informative.
