We recommend taking a full-length mock test for both SAT and ACT. While many students score similarly on both, some students do score significantly better on one or the other. We can help you and your student interpret the results and make a decision about which test your student should pursue. We also offer free practice exams. The ACT is more straightforward, but covers a broad range of material and moves very quickly, especially in reading and science. Slow test-takers may not want to take the ACT.
The SAT gives you more time, but is trickier. The wording of the questions and answer is complex and sometimes confusing. But, many students enjoy the strategic, puzzle-based nature of the test.
Schools that are test optional will still review students’ scores when submitted. Not sure what your student should do? Try a free practice exam and contact us to discuss what to make of the results.
We recommend checking with the admissions offices at the schools. Most of our students prepare for the ISEE when applying to grades 4-8 and the SSAT when applying to 9-12.

When possible, we recommend starting three to four months before the test date. However, all our one-on-one tutoring is customized to the student’s goals and timeline.
Our students most often take an exam twice. We usually do not recommend taking a test more than three times. There is no penalty for “taking the exam too many times.”
Hard work, homework completion, consistent scheduling, and parental involvement are the most important factors. A consistent schedule is very important: students need to be able to form a weekly preparation routine.
We do! We support many students through schools and local community organizations to help them prepare for the ISEE/SSAT and SAT/ACT. Looking for practice exams for your student? We can help! We are also able to provide presentations on how to navigate the current testing landscape and test preparation planning. Please email us to learn more about our partnerships.
